VISION & MISSION
It was during 1957-60 when I was in England with my husband, the thought of starting a school in India was originated in my mind. Then I was undergoing Montessorie Training in London under the able guidance of Mr. Morie Montessorie, the son of Madame Montessorie the founder of the world famous Montessorie system of Education.

His teaching was so interesting and exciting that I was enthused and felt the urge to impart my knowledge to the little ones in India who lacked proper guidance and encouragement in those days.
ABOUT US

When I returned to India in 1960 it was difficult to locate a proper place to run a school and I was a bit disappointed and feeling guilty for not putting my Montessori Knowledge acquired in England to proper use.

We understood that while South Madras can claim of many well known good schools, North Madras was an educationally neglected and backward area and we should give our attention to this area and thus we started the Model School in Tondiarpet as a Nursery School.Over the years due to parents request the school grew up step by step to Primary School, Middle School, High School and Higher Secondary School.

When I look back on the last 40 years, it is with a lot of pride and satisfaction. What started out as a dream, became a reality. When Ponnamma joined the Montessori Course at U.K. , she had this burning desire to come home and teach. We had no idea how this was going to be possible.

It lay there as an unfulfilled dream as we went back to India in 1959 and resided at Kilpauk. Once in a while the idea cropped up in the midst of something and due to sheer ignorance of how to go about it, was shelved.

Once in a while the idea cropped up in the midst of something and due to sheer ignorance of how to go about it, was shelved. It was soon apparent that the desire to impart what she learnt could not be curbed and in 1963 we looked for some space in Tondiarpet which was relatively close to MRF where I worked and was an area lacking in basic educative facilities.

Model School came into existence one Monday morning in the verandah of Thandavaraya Mudali Street with a modest strength of 4 students. Today we look back with pride and gratitude to the Almighty for his blessings these last 40 years.I have always believed in “ Except the Lord buildeth the house one toils in vain.” It is very clear to me that the Lord indeed has been with us these last 40 years.

The Alumni Association has vast potential . Having been through the portals of this school and tasted the world, an alumnus is the ideal person to give back to the school and the present students a glimpse into the outside world. The advancements of Science and Technology is changing the world at a dizzying pace. Newer and more challenging Career and Job opportunities are emerging as a result of these changes in the world. The Alumni through various programmes can come back to school and enlighten the students and the teachers. I think that the slogan “Back to School” is very appropriate. I wish the Association all the very best and pray for God's presence

DONOR OF LAND
To God Almighty who in 1965 blessed this small nursery school in the verandah of an old building in Thandavarayan Street, Tondiarpet , Madras 21 which was called MODEL SCHOOL. We will be failing in our duty if we don't remember a few names who have helped us in the development of our school.

Firstly, Late Mr. Gnanasundaram who has rented us his house in 1965 to start the school. Subsequently his son Mr. Dhushyanathan has sold the house to the school.

Secondly late, Mr. Ramachandra Iyer, who most willingly let a major part of his property with a house to meet the expanding demand for Admission.

Subsequently, his daughter Mrs. Moha Kuppuswamy and Mr. Kuppuswamy has helped us to buy the property where the New School Block building is constructed. Their son M. Sri Ram has allowed us to have a part of his property for the use of the school.

Last but not the least, Mr. Krishnamurthy who is a well wisher, neighbour and friend of all of us played a very helpful role in getting the property to the school. Without the helping hand of all of them, we would not have been able to construct a such a magnificent building.. Their name will be remembered years to come al long as the school exists her. Our thanks are due to all of all of them along with many thousands who have contributed immensely for the development of Model School in this area.
